2016 Memorial Day at the Nisei War Memorial

More than 150 participated in the Memorial Day 2016 ceremony at the Japanese War Memorial located in Roeding Park, Fresno, California. The ceremony features wreath-laying from various Japanese organizations, 21-gun salute with seven shooters and three volleys followed by the taps played on the bugle, to honor the dead who gave their life in the performance of duty. Taps and the shooting was performed by the Navy Junior ROTC students from Hanford West High School.
The event is organized annually by the Hanford Nisei Liberty

“We’re very fortunate each year to be able to gather here and assemble to honor the legacy of our brave, unselfish heroes,” said Korean War veteran Kenneth Takeuchi, who led the ceremony at Roeding Park’s Japanese War Memorial. “Those who served without fear paid the ultimate price and sacrificed to preserve our precious land, hopes and dreams.
